update: Samsung has announced that the marshmallow update has been released worldwide for the s6/s6 edge. first the unlocked models will get the much anticipated upgrade, then the locked phones will receive it as soon as the carrier company releases it. Samsung has also announced that the note 5 and the galaxy s6 edge+ will follow suit very soon.
Surprise!! Surprise!! Samsung has updated the galaxy S6 and S6 Edge phones in Europe to android 6.0.1 marshmallow. This is particularly interesting since the update is ahead of the users in America and is released before the galaxy s7 with marshmallow is unveiled. The users in Poland have started to receive this update with most of the user in Europe scheduled to receive it shortly.
The marshmallow update was first seen on a T-Mobile galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in Poland. People in south Korea, Samsung’s home country, are already enjoying the marshmallow flavour on the S6 and S6 Edge. Poland is the second country to get this update.
The marshmallow update will bring in some significant features and changes. Most of them have been announced by google and they include better control over the permission of the apps, optimization of the battery life, app standby mode and doze mode.
Google has also added the dynamic video and audio rendering, better audio device management and MIDI protocol. Apart from that, Samsung has cooked in some cosmetic changes. The notification dropdown menu is now in white and looks better overall.
One of my favourite feature is the “now on tap”. The next version of the excellent google now. You can get all the information you require without exiting the screen. The messaging apps have also gained new abilities. You can now open the link right from the app with a built in browser.
Samsung is also preparing to unveil its next super phone, the galaxy s7 in a week’s time. but the galaxy S6 is available for $200 off. If you require a capable smartphone with all the bells and whistle but do not want to break the bank, now is the time to grab a galaxy S6 or the S6 Edge that will soon be updated to the android marshmallow.
