Finally, we have an unofficial confirmation that the USB Type-C will come to Samsung devices starting with the Note 6. The reversible port is one of the highly anticipated features for the high-end Samsung phone that costs a bomb.
The advantage of such a port is blazing fast data transfer speeds and ultra-fast charging times. Don’t get me wrong, Samsung already has phones that charge their battery at crazy speeds like reaching from 0 to 100% of the battery capacity in less than an hour but USB Type-C has the capabilities to reduce this charging time in half.
I am a big fan of the USB Type-C port on a phone because they essentially make the device future proof. The Note 6 that retails today can also be relevant down after three years if it houses a USB Type-C port. Samsung is also rumoured to be building a version of the Gear VR that has this USB Type-C port for connection with a compatible smartphone.
In other news, the Note 6 will reportedly house a mammoth 4200 mAh battery that can run the phone for 2 days with moderate usage. The fast charging capabilities and wireless charging ability will further reduce the charging time significantly.
The Note 6 will also come with the same camera that the S7 houses. This is excellent news considering the fact that this camera is currently touted as the best camera in the mobile world. The IP68 rating will also return to the smartphone to provide protection against dust and water.
The big news is that Samsung will also offer the phone with a 256 GB memory capacity besides the expandable memory expansion slot. A first for Samsung.
Other top of the line specs such as Snapdragon 823 SoC. and a killer display is a norm in the Note line of smartphones.
Stay tuned for more such updates.
