Steve Wozniak was the one personality without which apple wouldn’t exist in the first place. Steve jobs might be the face of the company but woz was the brains who dared to stand up against jobs when he didn’t like the direction apple was taking under his leadership. Woz was always the guy who live the tech dream and he now says that he is smitten by the virtual reality world especially the one offered by Gear VR.
Woz was recently awarded the Alltech Humanitarian Award at a conference in the US and it is on this occasion that he talked about the Gear VR’s virtues.
“Today, the smartest electronic chips are made for video games. When I was a child, the chips that could actually do something, they were only affordable for the government and the military. If there was a little something left over that is what we consumers would get to make our home life better. Now it’s reversed, the military has to use the chips designed for video games because the scale makes it cheaper.” he said
“It takes you to other worlds. It’s so real. It’s everywhere you look. That one gets me emotional. Virtual reality is going to have a big future. It could die like 3D TV. But there will be a lot of games possible and that’s enough to make the market work.”
In Spite of full-fledged VR systems such as the Oculus Rift and the HTC VIVE, Gear VR managed to reach the masses and is now a tech that is on the verge of being widely spread. Steve also hoped that apple better be working on a VR headset if it wants to stay in the game.
I own a Gear VR and was so impressed with the system that I am actually addicted to it. I think you should own one too.
