It’s no secret that Samsung is preparing for the future of the smartphone era in the form of bendable and foldable phones. now an insider has reported that Samsung may be preparing not one, but 2 phones with the non-regular screen. These smartphone project has been named as “Foldable Valley”.

‘Samsung is considering introducing two new smartphone models that will feature bendable screens, including a version that folds in half like a cosmetic compact, people familiar with the matter said.’ Informed Bloomberg.

These smartphones will see the light of the day very soon and will be named under the Galaxy X series of smartphones. Samsung has always been a pioneer in display technology and it is leading the way with plastic OLED flexible display that it has shown during the Mobile World Congress.

We might be able to see the phones as soon as Q1 of 2017.

But all’s not well in Samsung land. Apparently, the final version of the product is ready for mass production but the manufacturing cost is a bit on the high side. Naturally, the production woes will continue for some time before the process is perfected.

Samsung is waiting for the manufacturing cost to come down else it wouldn’t have any choice but to introduce the handset at a rather staggering price. I would be surprised if Samsung set the introductory price as high as $1000 for such a rare and exciting technology and will milk the customer until other players get into the market.

The prototype device has already been tested in china and the executives who have seen the devices are said to be excited with the potential the devices have.
