Samsung envisions a world where internet is available to everyone irrespective of their location and connectivity issues.
In an age where the internet connectivity is considered as basic as food and shelter, many tech giants are taking the uphill task of connecting people. Facebook has done it with internet.org and is still expanding. Google is doing it with fibre and balloon internet where gigabyte internet is provided for low cost, spacex founder elon musk dreams of a world where internet is available with help of a special satellite.
It’s the turn of Samsung to do its part in connecting people to the internet. It said that the idea of connecting everyone is rather ambitious given the current state of network methods and equipment. So it had to think different for this to happen where the cost is bearable, the method is efficient and unhindered by obstacles.
For this to happen, it plans to launch 4,600 satellites (micro-satellite to be specific) that will work in sync with each other to enable internet access from every point on the earth. The mentioned micro-satellites would switch between various radio frequencies resulting in providing data transfer of about terabyte per second. This will be enough to handle all the data that will be required in the year 2028. This method will enable in providing 20gp per month per user.
This is just a prototype plan and is unclear at this point where Samsung is at in implementing the plan. But for the sake for connectivity, let’s hope that this idea becomes a reality.
