Samsung’s HW-K950 is a Dolby Atmos sound bar that takes the audio experience to an entirely new level. Dolby Atmos is the next big thing for audio technology and promises realistic sound experience. Samsung is promising to upgrade your audio experience from the basic TV’s built-in speakers to a high-end level without much hassle but it will cost you an astronomical price. $1499 is what you will have to pay to get this sound bar into your home.
The whole set includes an aluminium sound bar that looks elegant, 2 wireless speakers and a subwoofer that are also wireless (it has power cables but will receive the input wirelessly from the parent unit). Samsung has mentioned the produced sound is outward as well as upward firing so that it reflects from the ceiling onto the couch where the viewer is seated. This simulates a theatre experience where the sound comes from every direction. This is called as an Atmos effect and results in a rich audio experience. HW-K950 is a 5.1.4 surround set with a remote that is simple yet provide with all the necessary options required to satisfy an audiophile. This system is ideal for media consumption and gaming too.
Samsung also introduced a lesser sound system called as HW-K50 that has a single Atmos sound bar and a sub-woofer. The sound will not match the one produced by its expensive elder brother but still, it’s pretty good.
HW-K950 provides inputs for 2 HDMI sources and also houses an optical out. You also have the option to connect Samsung’s Radiant 360 wireless speakers for the top end sound experience.
All this tech is very good but one thing to note is that to have the most immersive experience, you will not only need this sound bar but also a room that is acoustically designed with a flat ceiling. Seeing the system, you can easily say that this is the best sound system that Samsung has ever produced.
