HBO is a big name in the television world. Some of the most popular shows such as Game of Thrones and Silicon Valley live within HBO world. The real problem is most of us are cord cutters who have subscribed to streaming services like Roku and Apple TV. In such case, people have to scramble to watch their favourite TV shows if they do not have a proper source or a device.
HBO has taken pity on such people as it released its cord-cutting service, HBO Now, on Xbox one and Samsung smart TVs. The timing is right as the most popular TV show on earth, Game of Thrones, will premiere tomorrow. HBO Now is available for free the first month after which the subscription costs $15 a month.
“The anticipation for Game of Thrones is at an all-time high, so we’re thrilled to bring HBO Now to Samsung TV users in time for the new season,” Jeff Dallesandro, HBO senior vice president of worldwide digital distribution and business development, said in a statement. “By streaming HBO Now directly on a Samsung TV, consumers can watch epic, event-level programming in premium quality on a big screen—making for a tremendous viewing experience.”
The service will let the user access the entire catalogue of new and archived shows from the network which include original content, movies, documentaries, sports and exclusive comedy specials separate from a traditional cable or satellite subscription.
There is a catch, though. This app is available only on the 2016 smart TVs from Samsung with the support of older TVs expected soon but don’t hold your breath for it. If you subscribed to the service, then you can access the content from other devices such as Roku players, Roku TVs, Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, Fire tablets, Google Chromecast, Apple TV, and Android devices.
