Once again Samsung’s sales expectations have been surpassed but this time by its Tizen TVs. The TVs have had greater sales in the manufacturer’s home country than the company expected.
The year 2014 may not have been good for Samsung’s flagship smartphone the Galaxy S5 but its TV side covered up. In 2014 Samsung dominated all the others in the global TV market. The Global flat TV market share for Samsung was 29.2 percent with the company leading its TV and mobile rival LG Electronics which only accounted for 16.7 percent of the global TV market share.
Apart from this the Samsung’s Ultra HD TVs which are famous for their ultra-crisp images had a 34.4 percent of the market as compared to its rival LG’s 14.3 percent. Plus when these two giants are considered together they dominate the overall TV market share with a 43.4 percent.
Now Samsung’s TVs run Tizen OS which is basically the company’s new operating system that the Korean manufacturer wants to use in all of its products. Similarly LG has WebOS which has put some competition in the TV market and the Samsung rival has also planned on introducing the WebOS to its new smartwatch lineup.
This lineup of smartwatches by LG will also provide 3G standalone connectivity by which users can send texts and make phone calls. Om the other hand Samsung’s Gear S was the first Tizen run smartwatch on the market to provide 3G standalone.
