Our friends at iFixit have once again tore down a device that Is the apple of the eye in the tech world right now. The Galaxy S7 was taken down to show the internals and to educate consumer whether they should try any repair in case of some unfortunate accident. Here’s what they found.

First of all, the beautiful looking Galaxy S7 is all too familiar to the Galaxy S7 or so it seem on the outside. The handset is held together with lots of adhesives that is black in colour. iFixit has pointed out that this might be due to a change in the formula by Samsung to hold down the phone more strongly than before.

The cracking open session also revealed the internals that are better placed than before and aren’t stuck to the mid-frame as was the case with the predecessors. The most difficult part is to get into the device itself which requires a lot of effort. Chances are that you will most likely crack the rear glass while attempting to open the device. The video also shows us the heat radiating pipe as well as the gaskets that are around the ports which make the device truly water resistant.gsmarena_001

Once thing to point out is that since Samsung has moved onto the metal and glass design, repairing Galaxy phones have become a nightmare. The Galaxy S6 scored a 4 out of 10 (10 is the easiest and 1 is the most difficult). The Galaxy S7 reparability score is even worse at 3 indicating that prying the device open is something that is not intended for the faint of heart. The S5 and the S4 has a score of 5 and 8 respectively.

You better get insurance coverage if you plan on buying the device.
