Samsung has been working hard on the s-pen issue that caused the stylus to get stuck in the phone permanently if inserted upside down. When you try to pull it out of the galaxy note 5 forcibly, it permanently damaged the phone and the result was that the note 5 loses the ability to detect when the s-pen has been slided out of the phone and the air command options were not displayed.

This was because the switch that detected the s-pen’s movement in the galaxy note 5 broke when you pull out the s-pen. This issues caused huge uproar but Samsung advised the users to use the s-pen as intended and in no other manner. subsequently, a user found a way to get the stuck s-pen without any permanent damage to the galaxy note 5 by using a simple paper mechanism.

Samsung could not be of much help as it had manufactured millions of galaxy note 5 in this fashion and the newer models with the failsafe mechanism to unstuck the s-pen would only be manufactured once the existing units were sold.

Samsung employed a simpler solution for this fiasco. Instead of an angular switch, it opted for a semi-circular switch that could detect the movements of the s-pen and not get stuck if it was inserted upside down.

“Samsung can confirm that the Note 5 internal S Pen mechanism has been changed to avoid the issue caused by inserting the S Pen incorrectly. As always, we recommend following proper instructions for storing the S Pen,” the company said in a statement to a tech website.
