The said Samsung devices were accused by apple of infringing on its patents such as slide to unlock, auto correction and quick links. Apple recently won a major battle against Samsung and won half a billion dollars and it further asked the court to shed Samsung of additional $180 million for legal fee and continued use of the disputed patents in additional device during the trial period.
This ruling of older Samsung devices by a federal court in California makes no real difference to Samsung or the common consumer like you and me. The devices were released during the 2011-2012 period and have become obsolete by now. You can hardly find these devices in the retail store, inline or online.
But there more to the news. There are several other products that were released after apple sued Samsung and they aren’t listed in the banned list of Samsung devices. Samsung and apple have been sparring in the courtroom for quite sometime now and apple has been winning the battle of late.
“The court finds that Apple will suffer irreparable harm if Samsung continues to use its use of the infringing features, that monetary damages cannot adequately compensate Apple for this resulting irreparable harm, and that the balance of equities and public interest favor entry of a permanent injunction,” the judge wrote in the filing.
