Some units of Samsung that are not occupied with the Note 7 disaster are working on a unique opportunity to drive 5G forward.

In an interview for FierceWirelessTech, a representative from Samsung, Alok Shah said that the 5G will touch number of businesses. “There’s kind of an opportunity, especially when you think of use cases, to bring together that internal ecosystem that we offer to ensure that we have a leadership position in 5G.”

Samsung actually has number of businesses outside of Samsung Electronics that will be customers of the new network. Some of them build ships, buildings and in South Korea it runs a medical center and builds medical equipment.

Last month Samsung held the first 5G Summit which is predicted to become an annual event. After this summit, an analyst said that this will be a make-or-break opportunity for Samsung. He added that the company needs to put effort and more aggressive approach to 3.5GHz, also known as Citizens Broadband Radio Services (CBRS) band.
