One of the main distinguishing factors between the iOS and android devices is the notification LED. Apple has refused to put a notification LED for the missed calls, messages and tweets in their device as is always desired its users to pick up their phone and fire up the display to view the notifications they have missed. It’s a ritual but not in android land.

Android, on the other hand, is entirely different. The notification LED indicated the activity you have missed even when you are few meters away. Now Samsung is set to change that with a smart notification LED called as Smart Glow.

The smart glow is actually an LED ring around the camera module. This colored luminous ring lights up differently for missed calls, messages and other notifications. But there’s more than meets the eye. Apart from providing glance notification, the glow ring also acts as selfie assistant.

People take a selfie with their front facing the camera. But the rear camera is more powerful and can take infinitely better selfies but you cannot see the shot while taking the picture often leading to uninspiring photos. now with the smart glow, when you try to take a selfie picture with the rear camera, it will light up as soon as it detects your face indicating that you are ready to press the button and take the perfect picture.

The feature will first be available not in a flagship Samsung phone but a mid-range device called as Galaxy J2 that will arrive in the Indian sub-continent soon and will spread to other devices in the future.

Way to go Samsung.
