Technically, the listing for the Galaxy Tab A (2016) is updated on several of the Samsung websites across the globe and the German website has the most details. The Galaxy Tab A has been one the Samsung’s best-selling tablets. The affordable price and the 7-inch screen size made it popular among budget conscious buyers.
The next version is here. Leaks have pointed out that Tab A and Tab E were under development for quiet sometime. Now the company has announced the arrival of the Tab A in a rather unintimidating way.
The specifications include 7-inch LCD display with a paltry 1280×800 pixel resolution. A 1.3 GHz processor runs the device along with 1.5 GB of RAM. as expected, the storage is at 8 GB and there is an option to expand the memory via microSD card.
There is a 5 MP back shooter and 2 MP camera on the front for the selfie and skype calling. Disappointingly, Samsung has mentioned that the device will run on Android 5.1 with TouchWiz on top. Considering the fact that google just announced Android 7.0 and the 6.0(Marshmallow) has been available for quiet sometime, we, at least, expected the device to run on the latest version of Android.
Given the low specification, the 4000 Mah battery could power the device for quite some time. the battery life is rated at 10 hours of video playback and 11 hours of web surfing.
The price of the device is touted at $160 and will be available in black and white colours. The device also has LTE options, but the listing is only for the Wi-Fi model. The LTE model is slated to hit the stores later.
The Tab A has a dedicated kid’s mode to enable safe usage for your children if you intend to buy this device for educational purposes. It also features dual app mode to run 2 apps side by side.
