The j series of the Galaxy phone have always targeted the budget conscious smartphone buyers. The last entrants of the segment, the j5 and the j7, have not even turned one-year-old and Samsung is already preparing the next generation of the j series phones. The twist in the tale is that Samsung has opted for premium materials for the construction of the body.
That’s not very surprising given the fact that Xiaomi is offering a metal phone that looks absolutely fantastic in the sub $200 segment in the form of Redmi note 3. But there is a curious bit of information in the leaked user manual that might point toward the future generation of Galaxy phones such as the Galaxy S8.
The leaked drawing show the construction of the body has been done with a metal such as aluminium. But the phone doesn’t feature a uni-body construction. In fact, despite being a metal phone, the Galaxy J5 and J7 will feature a removable back. The back cover is also made of metal and to prevent it from going out of shape, Samsung has reinforced the inside. This will allow the phone to swap a battery with another one in case it is needed.
The antennas have been shifted to the top and bottom of the frame instead of the back. The batteries that will be put into the phones will be enormous. The exact rating is not known but the j7 Is speculated to have a 3,300 mAh battery. There is also a front facing flash on the devices for taking better selfies. Other specification includes 5.2 inch 720p and 5.7 inch 1080p screen for the J5 and J7 respectively. Android 5.1.1 with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. Snapdragon 615 will power the device.
The phone has passed the Bluetooth certification few days earlier and Samsung is waiting for the Galaxy S7 hype to die down before announcing the phones.
