Apple has Siri, google has google now and Microsoft has Cortana. But Microsoft has been generous enough to make Cortana available on android and iOS devices. The digital assistant who was named after an AI character from the super hit halo franchise debuted on windows devices. Then it was integrated into the windows 10 os making it one of the central aspect for the windows 10 experience.
Microsoft has been testing Cortana for the android and iOS for some time now and the app seems to have exited the beta phase and is available for download to all users. Cortana is now available for android and iOS devices in just china and united states. Microsoft has stated that it will roll out the app to many other regions in the coming quarter.
With Cortana, you will be able lock the locations and set a time reminder. It can also track the density of traffic and suggest an alternate route so that you won’t have to sleep in your car amidst the freeway. like other digital assistants, Cortana can answer all kinds of questions and boy it does have a sense of humour.
What more, Cortana can also link up your pc and smartphone. it enables you to send text messages and receive notification onto your computer screen.
“They’re going to take the Android base experience [of Cortana] and integrate it into the experience. it’s been a fascinating experience to learn how you think about a personal assistant that runs across multiple platforms” explains Marcus Ash, Microsoft’s Cortana program manage
There’s more, Cortana will now be cooked up into cyanogen by default and you can fire it by a simple “hey Cortana” command. It doesn’t matter if you are in another app. Cortana will answer when you ask. Cyanogen has given it even more power that simply isn’t possible in iOS or google controlled android devices. Cortana can power off the phone or switch a network for you. The digital assistant is at your disposal.
