Apparently, Samsung has created an app called as the “Samsung internet for GEAR VR” that will enable its user to surf the web and enjoy its video contents without actually removing the virtual reality headset.
This is a first for the virtual reality world that previously saw development of 360 degrees’ videos and 3d immersive games. it was actually Samsung who pondered on the question whether browsing internet in the virtual world would be fun?
As a result of this curiosity and execution is the Samsung internet for GEAR VR. This app will actually allow you to browse the web in a panoramic style (imagine browsing the web on a movie theatre screen) and enjoy its content in the virtual world without having to download anything onto the mobile. This app will be released today and will have the ability to run the video file with HTML5 extension.
Samsung has also enabled the 360 degree videos playing and 3d video streaming for this GEAR VR application. Although theoretically exciting, its actual execution is yet to be reviewed. Things that are really exciting on paper turn out to be duds in the real world like the Kinect for Xbox 360.
You will need the compatible phone such as the note 5, galaxy s6, s6 edge and s6 edge+ along with the $99 GEAR VR headset to take advantage of the virtual world.
“As the demand for 360-degree, immersive video content rapidly rises, Samsung Internet for GEAR VR further enriches the VR content ecosystem for our consumers, setting an industry standard for the VR viewing experience,” Chan-Woo Park, Samsung’s vice president of product strategy, information technology and mobile, said in a statement
Virtual reality is the next step that is believed to revolutionize technology and how it affects our lives. Most of the tech companies such as Facebook owned oculus, HTC and Sony are building their own virtual reality headsets and their content.
But GEAR VR is the best possible medium as of now that will help you realize the full extent of the virtual world. Stay tuned for more info on virtual reality.
