The newest smartwatch, gear s2, from Samsung is the darling among the smartphone user. the watch has been reportedly sold out in Korea within 2 hours. Before you get excited, let us say that Samsung has only put up 1000 units for pre-order. While the official release of the smartwatch is October 2nd for U.S, Europe and korea.
The smartwatch comes in 3 variants. A regular gear s2, gear s2 classic and the gear S2 3G. the gear S2 3G works without any pairing of the smartphone. It was recently named as the “apple watch of android” and rightly so. The gear s2 has a beautiful design and useful functions. It has about 18 apps which can send an email, text message, view the calendar and maps, tracking the health parameters is one of its brilliant features.
The gear s2 is powered by Samsung’s own tizen os and has a 1ghz dual core processor. Coupled with 512 MB ram is a 4 GB rom. It has Wi-Fi capabilities and also the NFC. A 1.2 inch circular but brilliant display is powered by a 250 mah battery. The gear s2 has to be charged wirelessly and comes in white, black and grey colours.
Similar to the crown button in the apple watch, the gear s2 has a rotation dial to interact with the user interface. That is the killer feature for people like me who dislike the apple watch input method. The prices for the gear s2 starts at $350 for a base model. The gear s2 classic and the gear S2 3G will set you back $400. As far as my personal opinion is concerned, Android wear devices are still in a very infant stage. They aren’t much useful in the real world in the present scenario.
Android wear devices don’t differentiate themselves from other fitness trackers and the gear s2 is the only worthy competition that the apple watch has right now.
