For a number of years there were whispers of a foldable display that Samsung is developing. These talks were somewhat confirmed with roadmaps that revealed how the company would break the technology barrier necessary to start production on a foldable smartphone.
Now, new details and sketches showed up revealing the potential design for Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphone, known as Galaxy X or Project Valley.
Looking at the patent application, this phone could feature a hinge in the middle that is something like the one present in Microsoft’s Surface Book.

As Samsung said on the quarterly earnings meeting, new flagships will feature “differentiated design and innovative features.” This could be meant for the Galaxy X as it’s a huge and brave step, or it could be meant for the Galaxy S8 and its lack of home button and integrated digital assistant.
