Samsung has done it again. The Galaxy S7 is proving to be so popular that it will most likely outsell the LG G5 whose claim to fame is the modular design.

LG introduced us to the modular G5 at this year’s Mobile World Congress and it created a ripple in the smartphone world that announced the arrival of modular phone era. But on the other hand, Samsung stuck to the traditional design. Yet it is winning the smartphone war and is outselling the likes of iPhone 6s in India.

Credit goes to the developing teams at Samsung. They were able to pack so much technology into the S7 that it is probably the most advanced smartphone out there with the best display, best camera and top of the line processor.

LG, on the other hand, put forth what it calls as “friends” that are basically, modular components and accessories such as VR headset and 360-degree camera to go along with the G5. The modular design allowed the battery to be removable but the modular components itself are limited to 2. A camera grip with dedicated buttons and a Hi-Fi DAC component. LG is depending on developers to make more of these components to help people in various real world condition.

But users aren’t ready for modularity right now and that is shown in the poll conducted between the LG G5 and Galaxy S7. 57% of the people voted for the Galaxy S7 while the remaining thought the G5 is a better buy.

A strong reason for this inclination could be the dual factor of Samsung Pay and the Gear VR headset. These innovations propelled the sale of devices last generation and are doing the same this year. Though the G5 is a strong contender for the title of the best Android smartphone, it simply cannot beat the S7 which added water and dust resistance along with expandable storage to its arsenal this year.
