Galaxy S7 edge’s reign as the top smartphone in the camera department has been short-lived. Recently introduce HTC 10 has also been rated as the best smartphone in camera department by the camera testing experts, DxOMark. So How do the phones compare with each other?
When the phones are compared in the real world, we can definetly see some similarities. The S7 edge relied on bigger pixels for detailing and lightning fast auto-focus. It also features a technology called as dual pixel to preserve detail and make the colours look more natural in low lighting condition. All thanks to the new 12 MP camera.
The HTC 10, on the other hand, uses a 12 UltraPixel camera accompanied with a BSI sensor and pixels measuring 1.55μm. it has a f/1.8 lens to go along with the optical image stabilization. HTC also boasted that the latest flagship has the world’s first selfie camera with optical image stabilization for that perfect selfie.
DxO labs praised the phone for its excellent picture quality and low light performance.
“With an overall DxOMark Mobile score of 88 points, the HTC 10 offers outstanding mobile photography for both stills and video. Featuring a 12Mp 1/2.3-type sensor, this device excels for autofocus and texture preservation, making it an excellent choice for shooting moving subjects, or capturing detailed landscape and architectural shots.”
HTC 10 scored 88 out of 100 in the photography department and 86 in the videography department. An overall score of 88 and that the same number the Galaxy S7 Edge managed to achieve in its camera test.
For comparison, the last year’s flagship from HTC, the M9 score a paltry 69 in the same test. HTC has traditionally been weak in the camera department making it the phone’s Achilles heel. But HTC has listened to the customers and has somehow managed to make a smartphone that could match Samsung’s offering toe to toe.
Way to go HTC!!!
