A YouTube user has conducted a speed test on the Galaxy S7 variants. 2 different models with snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890 have been put through rigorous tests to see which one is faster than other and the results will surprise.
Samsung produced its own custom chips and uses them in its mobiles. It used the Exynos 7420 in the S6 family instead of the snapdragon 810 which was plagued by heating issues. This time around, the Chinese and U.S variants of the S7 will get the snapdragon and the rest of the regions will have the Exynos 8890 powered Galaxy S7.
When the Galaxy S7 was still a mystery to the world, reports have leaked out that the snapdragon variant of the S7 will be a little bit faster than the Exynos variant and the GPU performance is almost 35% greater in the snapdragon 820 variant.
The tests include launching several graphic intense and heavy application simultaneously. How the phones handle the opening and operations of these apps will be observed. A second test will see how the phones handle the recently launched apps.
In this tests, it was surprising that the Exynos variant launched the apps quickly than the other variant. While the 820 variant completed the tests in 1:36 seconds, the Exynos took just 1:27 to cross the finish line. Mind you that the 820 variant is loaded with bloatware apps from AT&T which can eat up the precious processing power and significantly slow the phone.
The real difference showed up in the second round. All the recent apps were opened again. Though 4 GB of RAM has been provided in both the phones, the 820 variant launched the apps afresh (thus took extra time) and lost the round. The Exynos 8890, on the other hand, managed to keep the apps alive in the background thanks to a large amount of RAM and was able to launch the apps with lightning speed.
These tests were indicative of the phone’s performance in extreme conditions that are rarely seen in the real life.
