Samsung has been slowly shifting its focus towards phones that have a metal uni-body instead of cheap plastic design. That is evident in the mid-range Galaxy A-series. The Korean giant has recently released the Galaxy A3, A5, A7 and the A9 with metal bodies. But rumours have suggested that the pro version of the Galaxy A9 was in works.
Today, Samsung has confirmed the existence of the device and has shown it to the world. The handset is now official in china.
This handset has been in the news for its monstrous battery that has a capacity of 5000mAh. This is the first phone from Samsung to feature such as huge. Samsung has mentioned that it has pioneered a new battery technology that allows it to cramp more mAh inside a battery of a regular size.
This A9 pro is similar to the regular A9 except for its battery capacity and the amount of RAM available. Samsung has mentioned that this phone will have 4 GB of RAM. this will assist in the smooth performance of the phone even while running heavy applications and multitasking. The camera has been upgraded from 13 MP to 16 MP. I suspect this is the same camera used in the Galaxy S6. The internal memory capacity has also been bumped to 32 GB instead of regular 16 GB. This phone also has a beautiful metal body without any glass on the back.
Other than that, the phone features the same 6.0-inch full HD display and QUALCOMM snapdragon 625 that is also present in the regular Galaxy A9. The phone supports fast charging and fast wireless charging. The operating system on the Galaxy A9 pro is Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
Disappointingly, Samsung has priced the handset at 3499 yuan ($540) and comes in white and gold coloured version. this phone is currently available only in china and Samsung is mum on the availability in other regions.
