Samsung seems to be right on track to return the mobile division to its former glory. The latest phone from the Korean giant’s stable, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, have been selling like hot cakes. The promotional offers such as buy one get one free and a free Gear VR headset for people who have pre-ordered the device is certainly helping Samsung in moving more number of units off the shelves.

Of the two handsets, people seemed more interested in the edge variant of the S7. This indicates a growing trend where people are willing to shell out extra dough for a phone that is a little different from the sea of similar looking flat devices. Even though the devices were available for only two weeks now, they have brought in generous profits for Samsung globally.

Forget the united states, the handsets are breaking pre-order and sales records of Galaxy S6 in the regions such as china, India and Europe. There is a 250% increase in sales when compared to the previous generation of the S-series phones.

“With a little design overhaul compared to the S6, Samsung added several consumer-friendly hardware features such as a revival of the microSD slot,” Shinhan Financial Analyst So Hyun-chul said in a report to clients, Sunday. “So far, S7 sales are looking very good.”

Few reviewers are pointing towards the new features that were added such as the water resistance, dust proofing and a stunning camera for its success. Others believe that the 10% price cut that Samsung has subjected the handsets to have helped in gaining the momentum for the device.

Since the other division such as display and semi-conductor are heavily dependent on the mobile division, analysts believe that the success of the mobile division will off-set a chain reaction that could help the company in registering strong profits in other dependent divisions when compared to the dismal performance in the past quarters.

Still this is good news for Samsung fans and investors.
