A few days back, Samsung released its latest and first of its kind Tizen-powered smartphone, the Samsung Z1. People were really anxious about the new phone whose release was delayed for months, and due to this delay, expectations from the upcoming Z1 were also growing. People were expecting a phone that was ultra-cheap and had some great specs.
Well, after its release this weekend, it’s become evident that the Tizen-powered Z1 wasn’t worth the wait. It seems to be a real low-end phone which one could compare to the low-end Windows phone. The Z1 which was released in India which is the biggest market for cheaper low-end phones mostly dominated by Samsung; it was thought that it will take place of most of the Samsung’s low-end Android powered phones. But to utter amazement, people there have just preferred to stick with Android.
The main reason behind this, according to most of the analyst, is that Tizen isn’t as developed as Android. The app market that’s available for Tizen is very small and doesn’t have as many apps as its counterpart PlayStore. Even the phone’s hardware is very low, for example the phone’s camera will never impress any smartphone user because it’s really low resolution.
Even with a price tag of $92, people aren’t interested in Z1. For now, we need to wait and see what happens to when Z1 is released in other markets.
