Samsung Sets August 2nd As The Note 7 Launch Date

GalaxyNote7_Invitation_Main_1Samsung has yesterday made it official that august 2nd will be the launch date for the Note 7. It has sent out an invitation to various tech journalist inviting them to grace the launch event. It has also, for the first time, confirmed that the next entrant in the Note  series will be called as the Note  7 instead of Note 6.

The unpacked event is scheduled at 11AM Eastern (8AM Pacific) and will be held in New York. Interested viewers can watch the event live on YouTube. But the exciting news is that Samsung is also planning to stream the event live in 360 degrees. You will need the Gear VR or the Oculus Rift to view it, though.

Apart from that, Samsung has planned to launch the phone simultaneously in Rio de Janeiro at noon and in London at 4:00 p.m.

The invitation read out as follows

“With added functionality of the S Pen and large screen, the Galaxy Note 7 is a powerful instrument for achievement and self-expression, and is made for those who want to get the most from their phones – and their lives. Galaxy Note 7 will help people do more in work, at home and everywhere in between. We can’t wait to tell you more about it!

First and foremost, though, you might be curious as to why it’s called Galaxy Note 7 instead of Galaxy Note6. There are a couple reasons why. First, the Galaxy Note 7 will complement our Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, and unify our product portfolio. Second, the Galaxy Note 7 will minimize confusion about the latest mobile technology from Samsung, and provide full alignment with Galaxy S smartphone.”

I must say I can’t wait to see the handset officially even though the leaks have let the cat out of the hat.
