The Galaxy S7 is a hit among the tech users, and that is shown in the sales figure. Samsung wants to cash in on the crazy by introducing as many variants as possible for its flagship device. It has the edge variant but reports also point out towards the S7 mini with the 4.7-inch display to counter the iPhone SE and also the S7 Active, the rugged version of S7 meant for adventurous people.
Then there is the Olympic edition in works. But now, we are receiving reports that Samsung is working on a large camera module that is of 1/1.7-inch size.
Samsung has always been on top of the camera quality aspect and with this module, it intends to remain the same in future. The newest flagships had the dual-pixel phase detection autofocus technology which vastly improved the picture quality compared to the excellent Galaxy S6.
This new 1/1.7-inch CMOS camera module will have a wide aperture of ƒ/1.4. This is unheard in mobile camera segment. With this, the resolution will be bumped up to anywhere between 18 MP and 24 MP all the while increasing the quality significantly.
The Galaxy S7 has already been awarded the title of the “Best Camera in Any Smartphone” and this zoom variant may further enhance the features and capabilities of its camera.
Samsung has been developing this module for its point and shoot camera line-up called as NX camera, but it has been known in the past for using these NX camera modules in a smartphone that might be bulky but takes very good photos. An example of that is the Galaxy Zoom smartphone.
If Samsung does come out with the S7 zoom variant, I would be interested in buying the phone as well as thousands of photography enthusiasts.
