As smartphone push into the laptop territory, the tablets have been pushing towards the pc category with large screen offerings. First it was apple who introduced us to the iPad pro that has a 12.9-inch beautiful display and then it was Samsung turn to tease the galaxy view tablet.
The striking feature about this tablet is that it has a gigantic screen size of 18.4 inches crossing the largest laptop category of 17 inches comfortably. This galaxy view is said to be a complete replacement of the traditional laptop with a fully functional keyboard and a touch screen for never before productivity.
The benchmark site GFXbench has revealed the specs. The 18.4-inch screen will have a paltry resolution of 1980×1080. Smartphones with screen size of around 5 inches have 2 times the resolution these days and it still is a mystery why Samsung has chosen such a low resolution for its screen. Other specs include a octa-core Samsung made exynos processor and 2 GB of ram. The camera department doesn’t offer much excitement. The device has been running android 5.1.1 but is rumoured to launch with android marshmallow 6.0.
Samsung teased this giant last month and promised to unveil the galaxy view in October. As the tablet sales dwindle, companies such as Samsung, apple and Microsoft have been pushing the screen size to the limits with a hope to make the average geek interested. Samsung is practising what it preached. “Start with the limits, then push them further”
