Virtual reality is one of the hottest businesses these days in the tech world and Samsung wants in. the Korean conglomerate has filed for various patents that shows a google glass like device that we call as Samsung glass. this glass is significantly better that google glass in terms of usability and will succeed where the latter failed theoretically.
The Samsung glass will be similar to google glass in terms of body and design but the real difference come in functionality. The google glass depends on it tiny screen which is at an inch away from the eye to input the data and on the voice commands. The Samsung glass will have 2 pair of lens that will act as the doorway to the augmented reality
This device will allow the user to create 3d objects in mid-air and interact with them. take for example that you have to make a phone call. Samsung glass will project the dial pad onto your palm where you can type a number and make a call. If you want to send a message or play keyboard, the glass will project he virtual keyboard or the piano onto any flat surface that is available to send the message or play the tune.
This functionality was definitely lacking in the google glass and similar to the surface hub, you can use the Samsung glass to convert your real life objects into different objects in the augmented reality. This is all possible due to a new tech called as sixth sense developed by an MIT student, Pranav Mistry.
“A current input method of smart glasses is limited. A user basically controls the smart glasses by using a voice command. However, it is difficult for the user to control the smart glasses by using only a voice command if a text input is required. Thus a wearable system that provides various input interaction methods is required,” Samsung’s engineers write in the patent application.
We will have to see how Samsung will develop this google glass competitor and how can it change the life of the common user.
