The long bitter patent battle between the tech giant seems to be coming to end or does it looks so?

Samsung who was ordered by federal court in San Jose, California to pay $1 billion dollar for infringing on the patents that apple laid claim last May. Samsung subsequent appealed against the judgement and the damage payment was reduced by $382 million. Now after dragging for a long time, Samsung and apple have decided to settle out of the courtroom and do not want to involve in court battles anymore.

The case involved Samsung devices that looked embarrassingly similar to iPhone and few software features such as pinch to zoom and slide to unlock have caused public embarrassment to Korean company.

Samsung has indicated that it will pay the fine amount within 10 days if apple sends an invoice by Dec 14. It also categorically said that it expected apple to fully reimburse the amount if it won the appeal in the supreme court of united states concerning the design patents, UI and bezel of the iPhone.

“We are disappointed that the court has agreed to proceed with Apple’s grossly exaggerated damages claims regardless of whether the patents are valid, while we’ve agreed to pay Apple, we remain confident that our products do not infringe on Apple’s design patents, and we will continue to take all appropriate measures within the legal system to protect our products and our intellectual property” a Samsung spokeswoman said in a statement.

Apple also wanted Samsung to pay $2 million for the court cost that it incurred. It isn’t clear if Samsung agreed to pay that or not,
