Samsung mimicked apple in almost every aspect but there are some areas where Samsung cannot even think of comparing itself to apple. Take for instance the super virtual assistant Siri. Samsung had to rely on google to compete with apple in form of google now. But that might be changing soon as reports are leaking that Samsung is working on an s-voice based virtual assistant that has a search engine and can show clever notifications.

S-voice was originally launched with the galaxy s3 and wasn’t of much use except for setting the alarm or to remind you of something. But the likes of Cortana, Google’s now on tap and Siri have long overshadowed the “adequate” s-voice. The new virtual assistant will be first made available in the galaxy s7. Samsung has a habit of announcing its newest software alongside new hardware. So our guess is that you can have a peek at the new s-voice based virtual assistant at the unpacked event during the world mobile congress.

We don’t have further details about the s-voice. I would love to see this piece of software on the note 5 and galaxy s6. It isn’t that the galaxy s7 would be radically different from the previous generations phones and the older phones are perfectly capable of running the virtual assistant. But if Samsung opts for the hardware based solution, then it would be very difficult for the older phones to get this virtual assistant.

Whatever might be the case, Samsung could spice things up like giving access to the phone on a deeper level.

Imagine yourself saying “hi galaxy, switch my phone off” and the virtual assistant will power down the phone without having you to touch the phone.

Stay tuned for more info on this subject.
