Google has officially unveiled the name of the next major version of Android and it will be called as Android Nougat. The seventh version of Android will not shake up the smartphone world but is poised to bring much-requested features such as the ability to run split screen apps and clear all the open apps with a single button.
Other worthy features are the seamless updates. This allows the device to run 2 images of the same app. One image updates the app in the background while the other one can be used simultaneously. Google has also baked in the virtual reality support for the devices. Hence your next smartphone will be daydream VR ready.
So when will Samsung update the devices and what are those devices?
Well, that is a tricky question. We have received reports that the Note 7 will ship with Android Nougat aboard but the release cycle suggests that Android 7.0 will release after the Note 7 hits the shelves. So even the upcoming Note 7 will run marshmallow.
Google is scheduled to release the final version of Android Nougat in the month of September or a little early. Considering the release date of Android marshmallow, Samsung will take at least 6 months before the Note 7 runs the Nougat. It would be well over a year by the time all the compatible devices get the update. This is due to the fact that most of Samsung devices still run Android 5.1.1 even when google is releasing the 7.0 version.
So the compatible list of the device might be as follows.
Galaxy Note 7
Galaxy Note 5
Galaxy Note 4
Galaxy S6 family
Galaxy S7 family
Galaxy tab S2
Galaxy A9 Pro
Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A9 (2016)
