As Apple’s next iPhones are under development, and will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2015, Apple is importing a number of top-notch products from International vendors to integrate in its upcoming devices. For this reason, Apple has considered to reach out to Samsung for importing NAND chips for their upcoming phones.
Last year, Apple bought the NAND chips from Toshiba, SK Hynix, and Sandisk, for integrating in the iPhone 6 variants. Currently, Toshiba holds 50%, SK Hynix holds 30%, and Sandisk holds 20% shares in this business. However, this year, it looks like Samsung will be taking over a lot of shares in the NAND chip business.
Samsung had been providing Apple with NAND chips to cater to the needs of the users for significant time period. Anyhow, Samsung lost the NAND chip business by Apple due to the overpricing of products.
This year, Apple has reconsidered Samsung’s offer to provide the users with flash memory chips of a larger capacity. This action was taken by Apple to increase the storage capacity of their flagship devices.
With Samsung jumping in, Toshiba, SK Hynix, and Sandisk will be suffering a great loss in this business. Samsung will be giving a tough time to Toshiba, as Samsung will be claiming a lot of shares in this business. According to our report, Samsung and Apple are currently discussing their terms; however, no official information has come out yet.
