Samsung and Apple are the worst rivals in the smartphone industry. Samsung has always managed to go one better in terms of OS and performance, whereas, Apple excels Samsung when it comes to reliability and security.

Earlier this month, Apple made a clever marketing stunt. Apple sent a keynote with a ransom list to Brandon Moss, a baseball player who plays for Cleveland Indians, with an interesting gag that was written by Tim Cook.

The keynote was delivered to Brandon Moss by his friends who had got their hands on Brandon’s milestone ball of the 100th home run.

The ransom list consisted of Apple products mainly. Brandon’s friends demanded Apple products for returning his milestone ball. This ransom note got a great deal of attention from the baseball fans.

As a reaction to this marketing ploy, Samsung tried to react to the stunt pulled by Apple, but it backfired towards Samsung in a comical and ironic manner.

For pulling this stunt, Samsung nominated the pitcher of the same baseball team as Brandon, Trevor Bauer. Trevor Bauer and his friends got hold of a milestone ball of Francisco Lindor for the first hit. This time, Trevor Bauer and his friends demanded for Samsung products through the ransom list.

Trevor Bauer tweeted along with a picture of the ransom note, which he delivered to Francisco Lindor.

“Hey @Lindor12BC we have your ball. @indians Bullpen settled for @tim_cook Apple products but we want @samsungmobileus,” he said.

However, the irony in this stunt was humorous and priceless, as Steven Bauer had sent this tweet using an iPhone, which completely ruined Samsung’s marketing ploy.
