Google ceased the distribution of the plug in called as Adblock fast from rocketship apps that blocked ads in the default Samsung browser on galaxy devices. Google has informed that the said plug-in violated the developer’s guidelines. It sent a mail to the developers that said the following
Hi Developers at Rocketship Apps,
I reviewed Adblock Fast, com.rocketshipapps.adblockfast, and found that it violates section 4.4 of the Developer Distribution Agreement. This particular app has been disabled as a policy strike.
Just as a reminder, you’ve agreed to follow the Google Play Developer Program Policies and additional enforcement could occur if there are further policy issues with your apps.
If you’ve reviewed the policies and feel this rejection may have been in error, please reach out to our policy support team. One of my colleagues will get back to you within 2 business days.
I appreciate your support of Google Play!
What this essentially indicated is that google does not like it when app maker interferes with its mobile revenue. the search engine giant is an ad based company and it earns a lion share of its revenue from advertisements in websites.
Most of the android phone in the world are the galaxy devices and blocking ads on them will have a major impact for google.
Even though Samsung was involved, google removed the Adblocking plugin from the play store.
Samsung and google had been at war with each other over the modification of the android operating system. Samsung says it has the right to present the galaxy devices in a way that the user could differentiate them from the sea of other android devices. Google is not happy that Samsung is removing its core apps and severely altering the android more than intended.
Despite this effort, there are two other similar plug in available on play store that could block ads. They are the crystal ad blocker and the popular Adblock plus.
On Samsung’s part, it was simply following apple that earlier implemented Adblocking capabilities to the safari browser in the iOS 9.
