Samsung has been pushing tizen as its alternate operating system to escape the vice like grip of android that is mainly controlled by google. Despite being one of the biggest names in the technological world, Samsung is uncomfortably dependent on google for its galaxy phones. To change that, Samsung adopted the tizen os as its alternate mobile operating system. The Z3 is this year’s flagship phone for this os.
The Z3 was initially planned to be unveiled in Russia but those plans didn’t materialize due to uncited reasons. Soon after that, Samsung introduced the Z3 handset into the Indian sub-continent with a low price tag.
Now after the success of Z3 in India, Samsung is planning to increase the available regions and slowly gain the moment for the tizen os. Now it is reported that the Z3 will soon be available in Russia and Indonesia. Not only that, many other countries get this handset in the first half of 2016.
With the death of blackberry os, tizen now occupies the fourth spot as the most popular mobile operating system behind android, iOS and windows. But Samsung will find it hard to sell the Z3 in the developed countries where iOS and android reign supremacy. The lack of apps is killing the tizen os for now.
Samsung has been using the tizen in its television sets and smartwatches. But pushing an operating system on the mobile front is something very hard. you will need the support of developers and accessories makers to develop an eco-system full of compatible apps and accessories.
The launch of Z3 in many more countries is just the start for Samsung. The handset that usually sells for a sub-$150 price will find a place in the hands of curious people but making it a mass market device is really something else.
