Samsung in a latest announcement revealed that the 2015 variants of its smart TVs will use Tizen. This news came at a time when Google is flexing its muscle to make Android TV platform more popular.
Samsung Tizen was first announced in 2012, but till now the open-source platform failed to give any competition against Apple iOS and Android.
Samsung smartphones and other devices using Tizen, can now connect seamlessly to its new range of Smart TVs. In its announcement, Samsung said its “Tizen’s compatibility with other devices establishes Samsung’s Smart TVs as the control center of any Smart Home.”
To make Tizen more popular, Samsung needs to make more smartphones based on Tizen. The majority of all Samsung products use Android till now. So how Samsung is going to create a new ecosystem around Tizen, is pretty unclear at this moment.
