According to recent reports on Korean website Etnews, Samsung is planning to make rigid displays for the mid-to-low tier smartphones only. Every remaining device will come with its curved OLEDs.
Apparently, Samsung is considering making the Galaxy A series, which includes the A3, A5, A7 and A9, a lineup that will have curved OLED displays. These types of displays are usually reserved for the premium range devices, but as Etnews claims, Samsung is seeking to increase the demand for the curved OLEDs so that production costs can be decreased.
“Samsung Electronics is already working on lowering models with rigid OLEDs from medium-grade to low-grade models.”
Curved screens for everyone?
