As most of you would know, Samsung has recently started the mass production of 14nm FinFET chipsets and it has also showcased 10nm technology during the ongoing ISSCC (International Solid State Circuits Conference) 2015. Now Samsung has also stated that it can manufacture 5nm chipsets without any difficulty or problems.

Kinam Kim from Samsung during the Samsung keynote at the conference stated that there are no fundamental or technical difficulties until 5nm. Moreover it also looks as if this Korean semiconductor giant has found out a new way to reduce the size even more to an amazing 3.25nm.

However what the curious part is that what material Samsung will use to create these chipsets as during the same conference Intel revealed that it is not viable to use Silicon for developing chipsets below 7nm. Well it seems that Intel will be using Indium Gallium Arsenide (InGaAs) in order to develop and create chipsets with transistor size of 7nm and below.

Well for its upcoming flagship smartphones and tablets that include the Galaxy S6, Samsung will be using 14nm FinFET technology based Exynos 7 processor. The Korean giant is also putting in a lot of time and effort on its semiconductor business and is trying to compete with Qualcomm and Intel.

Well how successful will the company be in this venture is still to be seen. Samsung has also declared that it will make 80 percent of mobile processors used in Apple devices from 2016. Well if this is true than Samsung has already got one major contract and Intel and Qualcomm need to watch out.
