Counterpoint Research has gathered some data through which it is clear that Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handset sales are at the expense of other Android handset manufacturers rather than switchers from rival Apple’s iOS platform. Apart from this the data gathered also shows that sales are even lower than anyone was expecting.

The iPhone 6 by apple took over the world market sales in April with Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus at the second position. Samsung’s Galaxy S6 has taken the third position while the more innovative smartphone by Samsung the Galaxy S6 Edge comes at the number fourth position. Now we need to keep in mind that the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones were not up for sale till April 10th and even then reaching the third and fourth position is a very successful result.

Samsung which spend much less on marketing the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge as compared to its spending for the Galaxy S5 last year shows that the Galaxy S6 has outperformed the Galaxy S5. This is very good news for the South Korean company as the bad sale performance of the Galaxy S5 last year had resulted in low revenues and smaller profits.

Well the data that has been gathered by Counterpoint Research has been based on estimates of sales to consumers and not shipped handsets. This means that 6 million of the Galaxy S6 handsets have been sold out of the 10 million devices shipped. These figures are quite disturbing for Samsung and they need to address the situation because once again sales look bad for the South Korean giant.
