The South Korean technology giant recently demonstrated its Public Safety solution that uses LTE technology to support emergency services.
This new solution by Samsung is the world’s first solution based on the 3GPP Rel.12 standard.
This new standard was completed and released by the company less than three months ago in March 2015 and it gave Samsung much time to demonstrate end to end services with the newly developed base station, IMS Core, Application server, LTE Core and devices.
Youngky Kim, President and Head of Networks Business at Samsung Electronics stated that the live demonstration of the company’s PS-LTE solution is a very significant achievement.
He also explained that it took the company one more step closer to successfully build and complete the world’s first nationwide Public Safety network with LTE Technology.
Samsung held this live demonstration at its Electronics Digital City which is situated in Suwon, South Korea.
The demonstration basically showed how this new PS-LTE solution could be used during a real emergency situation.
When an emergency situation will occur the Samsung PS-LTE solution will automatically provide parties with an optimal transmitting method which can include multimedia Push-To-Talk and video conference services.
During this demonstration Samsung eMBMS technology successfully connected more than 80 devices and transmitted HD video simultaneously during the demonstration.
This eMBMS technology basically multicasts and broadcasts content to a large number of users simultaneously without any kind of delays or interruptions.
The eMBMS technology also offers an opportunity to better utilize the available bandwidth which is very important during massive disasters.
This technology can enable more than 1000 devices to live stream HD video call in one cell.
