Who would have thought that Samsung would bring mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, to its unpacked event? It was a pleasant surprise when everyone removed their gear VR headset and saw him onstage.
Mark is closely associated with Samsung. Their relation is like this. Facebook owns oculus VR company, the tech provider for the gear VR. Samsung has tapped into the company’s technologies and advancement to make the virtual reality popular worldwide.
Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the virtual reality is the next big evolution waiting to happen in the tech world and Samsung plays a key part in it. The virtual reality equipment is expensive. only Samsung has the production scale of different components to make the virtual reality affordable for the common tech user.
That is reflected in the $99 gear VR headset.
Mark Zuckerberg mostly talked about the virtual reality and how Facebook is helping the 360-degree videos to get popular. He went on to say that he prophesized the virtual reality to become the next big social platform.
“Pretty soon we’re going to live in a world where everyone has the power to share and experience whole scenes as if you’re just there, right there in person,” Zuckerberg says. “Imagine being able to sit in front of a campfire and hang out with friends anytime you want. Or being able to watch a movie in a private theatre with your friends anytime you want. Imagine holding a group meeting or event anywhere in the world that you want. All these things are going to be possible. And that’s why Facebook is investing so much early on in virtual reality. So we can hope to deliver these types of social experiences.”
Samsung has released a 360-degree camera and is offering a free gear VR headset for anyone who pre-order the newest handsets from the company.
