Galaxy A5, the all-metallic frame mid-range smartphone from Samsung is now available for order in China. Samsung is offering this phone through its official website with a price tag of CNY 2,599 ($420 USD). Samsung announced the phone two months ago to compete with Chinese smartphone manufacturers, particularly Xiaomi.
The Samsung Galaxy A5 is Samsung’s new approach to mobile business, as the competition is getting fierce between Android phone manufacturers. Chinese companies like Xiaomi and Lenovo acquiring Samsung’s shares by offering high-end device as mid-range phones. Samsung hopes by giving premium design along with metallic body the company can pull back the customers it lost to other competitors.
Samsung Galaxy A5 features 5-inch AMOLED display, a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset, 2GB of RAM, an Adreno 306 GPU, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter and a 2,300mAh non-removable battery.
Samsung is offering Android 4.4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz on the software side. We are sure Samsung will update this phone to Android Lollipop early next year when it also planned to update a bunch of other Galaxy smartphones.
No word when the phone will head to the USA and if at all Samsung has any plan like that.
