Samsung is a company well known as a manufacturer of all kinds of consumer electronics. Their category of products has a huge branch, including wearables, TV’s, smartphones etc. They are also very recognizable by their design. One of the most recognizable one are the smart contact lens. The contact lens are designed in a way that when they are worn by the user they are totally invisible and are hard to be spotted from anyone who is around them. Even if it sounds like a science fiction yet, Samsung truly believe that they can make this device to become science fact.
They even started releasing the smart contact lens. The first ones were released throughout this year. It is not yet worldwide produced and announced to be released, but as for sure Samsung are still hardly trying to put it all together. We must take as a consideration their big failure with the Galaxy Note 7, and taking as a note the battery error they had. Will it be an issue with the contact lenses as the Note 7 had? Good thing is though that Samsung has already thought about this and gave us an explanation of that how the contact lenses will receive their battery charges. The battery will be placed right between the layers of the contact lens, placing a piezoelectric layer which recovers energy from kinetic movement. It also stores small amount of the energy whey the user is not providing any kind of kinetic energy.
Samsung are still hoping that they will succeed with this project and try to put everything they imagined into it. In here we include the place to store some power, and figure out maybe a better way to do it. There must also be a space for the sensors as well as the ability to show an AR display and interface. For now Samsung are really dealing with bigger and tougher problems, but we believe that they can get back on the track and make this project a reality.
