The stagnation in the smartphone industry is clearly visible in the quarterly report of the smartphone manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung, HTC and Sony. I don’t know about you guys but I haven’t seen a phone in a long time that took my breath away like the Moto Razr or the Nokia 3310 or the original iPhone.
All the phones these days are flat glass slabs that refuse to stand out among the sea of devices. But when Samsung introduced the Note Edge in 2014, it got me curious and I dreamed of a smartphone that could have a truly flexible or bendable display or even a holographic display.
And finally, I receive news today that Samsung could be working on a smartphone that may have a bendable display and this phone is currently in work under the name “Project Valley”.
Not much has been revealed but the information pointed out that the Korean tech giant is impregnated an idea to make the phone with the regular 5-inch form factor but when unfolded, will reveal a 7-inch display. That is so cool.
The problem though is the mass production of this bendable display. Samsung has finished testing the phone but creating a large number of it is quite a challenge as some components are difficult to manufacture and are very fragile.
The device will be more like a wallet that can be folded and unfolded according to the usage and Samsung will show us the device at the end of this year. It will go on sale sometime next year.
The specs list, as pointed out by the leaks, include the high-end snapdragon 820 or the 625 along with 3 GB of RAM. stay tuned for more information on this phone.
