Samsung could be churning out another version in the galaxy S6 family and this device was anticipated long back. The S6 mini is showing itself to the world via an online listing from a retailer. He claims that the mini version of the super phone, galaxy S6 will be available shortly.
This is interesting because Samsung is on the verge of releasing the next version of the s-series phone. That is the galaxy S7 and here it is surprising everyone with another variant of this year’s flagship.
The S6 mini marks itself as the fifth variant in the popular phone category, it will be joining its bigger brothers such as the galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+ and the S6 active. The specs also indicate that this phone is really a shrunken version of the S6. It has a 1.8 ghz octa-core processor. A 16gb rom and 2 GB RAM. It comes with a 15 MP sharp shooter and 5 MP selfie camera.
The real differentiation lies in the display size. The 4.6-inch display is of super AMOLED. The resolution is yet unknown. Samsung in the past fitted the mini version of the s-series phones with a 720p screen that was capable but I have a feeling that given that the S6 features a quad HD display, the S6 mini will receive a 1080p screen. The software running would be android 5.1.
The body will be similar to the S6 and will have a glass and metal design that is the norm in Samsung’s premium phones today. There is also a paypal certified fingerprint reader. It’s most likely that there will be Samsung pay integration.
The S6 is at an end of its life cycle and retails for $400 on ebay. I guess it would make sense for Samsung to put a price tag of around $350-$400. We are yet to receive an official confirmation from Samsung about the pricing and availability.
