The latest entrant in the popular note series, note 5, which has been gathering positive reviews around the world has been launched in India. Samsung says that the note 5 is an important device for the India market indicating that it wants to concentrate on the domestic market where it is seeing double digit growth in the high end smartphones sales in a rather uninspiring overall performance sheet.
The note 5 handset has been launched for little over Rs.53,000 which is a premium price and in line with the launch price of its predecessors. The Korea giant has indicated that it has a market share of 45% in high end smartphone segment in India.
“According to data released by market research firm GfK till July 2015, Samsung has over 45% market share of smartphones in India in the price band of Rs 40,000 and above,” Samsung India vice president, IT and mobile, Asim Warsi told IANS at the side-lines of the South Korean electronics company’s launched of its next phablet — the Galaxy Note5 phone.
It also plan to unveil the GEAR S2 and other smartphones in india to enable it to hold onto its smartphone king tag. The note 5, for instance, will help it in that pursuit since the note series has been successful in India and has a dedicated fan base who are ready to upgrade.
Samsung India Vice President, Marketing, IT & Mobile, Mr. Asim Warsi, said, “The Galaxy Note has been an iconic device in the world of mobility. The Galaxy Note ushered in the large screen revolution and created an industry benchmark. The Note series has been a testimony to our commitment to keep innovating and giving our consumers what they need. In the beautifully crafted Galaxy Note5, we have pushed the S-Pen based productivity to the next level.”
