Samsung is working on 2 new exciting products in its Gear lineup. These include the next generation of the Gear Fit believed to be called as Gear Fit 2 and a surprise Bluetooth wireless earbuds being called as Gear IconX. The leaks were first provided to VentureBeat and subsequently, Samsung showed the official images on its S-Health website. While the leaks showed us the devices, not much was revealed about the availability, pricing or specification.
These gadgets are more focused on fitness enthusiasts.
The Gear fit 2 will be very similar to its predecessor with a 1.84-inch curved Super AMOLED display. Samsung has made the device more ergonomic and curved so that it feels natural on the wrist. The new addition is the dedicated GPS chipset that will measure your workouts and tracks distance more accurately. Thus, the Gear fit 2 has become more like Microsoft band 2 which can even measure the number of steps that you have climbed in a day. the fitness tracker is most likely to be powered by the Tizen operating system similar to the Gear S2. The heart rate sensor will also make a comeback.
The Gear IconX is what excited me the most among the two. Samsung has put out wireless headsets in the past but not the wireless earbuds that are completely free of any wires. They connect to any smart device via Bluetooth and will feature touch sensitive outer surface to control various music options such as fast-forward and skip.
These devices are dust and water resistant like many of the recent Samsung smartphones. Gear IconX is also a standalone music player like the Walkman NWZ-W273S and features 4GB of internal memory to store songs. This allows you to work out in peace while leaving your nagging smartphone at home.
