The neo line has been important for Samsung for a while now. It is the stripped down version of the flagship offering similar experience but at a fraction of cost. The newest member in the neo family is the galaxy active neo. It seems like it is a reminiscent of the s6 active that launched a while back.
I had the note 3 neo back in the 2013 and loved it for all it had to offer. The galaxy active neo has some functions of the s6 active. It is a rugged phone. Samsung has the habit of naming its rugged phones as “active” and these are generally solid devices.
The galaxy active neo is a low end device as the specs suggest. They have a 480×800 pixel resolution on a 4.5 inch pleasing display. The phone has a IP67 rating indication that it’s a phone that is dust and water resistant. You do not have to worry about the phone when on an adventure trip or that occasional dip in the pool. It also has a rugged protection around the edges and the back to safeguard it against nasty falls.
At the heart is the snapdragon 410 processor which is decent along with 2 gb of ram and 16 gb of expandable storage. The galaxy active neo has the LTE connection capabilities. It houses an 8 MP camera and a 2mp front snapper for selfies. The battery is rated at 2200mah. Since this is a low powered device, I expect the battery life to be better that average. Microsoft is sweetening the deal with 100 gb free storage space in the OneDrive for 2 years.
Galaxy active neo will be available in November only in Japan for $170. Samsung is mum on the availability of the phone in other markets.
