Google released the Android 6.0.1 build with some stability fixes and performance gains. Nexus devices were the first to receive them. Samsung is skipping the 6.0 and is directly working on the Android 6.0.1 update for its flagship devices.
Once such video leaked online. It showed an updated galaxy s6 edge running the Android 6.0.1. with the os refresh, Samsung has added some unique ideas to the entire device. The s6 edge is differentiated for its curved screen that falls to the sides. Previously, swiping the screen brought up a few favourite contacts and apps.
But with the latest update, Samsung is bringing the edge panels as well as edge feeds. The entire experience is enhanced with Android 6.0.1 update. The subtle tweaks are worth waiting for. The edge screen is being updated to the 1.0.52 version.
These edge feeds are the next version of the existing functionality of the edge screen while the edge panel adds a whole new dimension of how user will be able to interact with the curves. Users will now be able to use the features such as recently used apps, Task for commonly used apps, Quick Tools, S Planner, Weather, Twitter, Yahoo, and Sports. These are the part of default options that Samsung envisions. The third party developers can always spice up the things like swiping up the edge to take a quick selfie.
Samsung aims to bombard the user with information and unique features as well as setting with the Android 6.0.1 update.
I do think that these features are definitely a step up from the existing option where the edge screen is simply a novelty or a gimmick to sell the phone. Now it seems the edges are really starting to get useful.
